HEALTHY CHILDREN THANKS TO EDUCATION FOR PARENTS

In 2019, the project Move & Improve didn’t just support disadvantaged children in their development but also their parents. With our holistic approach, we focus on education for parents too. The aim of the classes is to indirectly promote children’s health by giving their parents information on the topic.

PLAYFUL LEARNING

Pushpa is 6-year-old Nagesh’s mother. He attended one of the project’s early childhood development centres in Mirzapur in northern India. Through play, 3 to 6-year-olds learn important skills for later life at the centres. At the same time, his mum attended the classes for parents. She particularly enjoyed learning information for daily life. “I learnt something too, for example with the hygiene game ‘Spread the Word’, which practically illustrates how illnesses spread. I can explain difficult topics to my son at home with playful methods.” Gaining knowledge is not the only advantage of the games though – Pushpa can also forget her daily worries for a while and be as high-spirited as a child.
