It is often difficult for people who have fled to Switzerland to find their feet and meet people in their new home. The aim of conTAKT-museum is to change this. It is a programme for education and meeting people, creating a welcoming culture for refugees and making it easier to start over.

Museums are places where society thinks critically and where topics such as fleeing, migration and integration are discussed in an innovative way. conTAKT-museum uses this potential to develop transcultural meeting and cooperation in museums. Tours, workshops and other ways of presenting culture offer participants a new way of looking at things, providing a unique educational experience.

A space for meeting and exchange

The joint approach including people who have fled, locals and museums creates a stimulating dialogue and a sense of achieving something together. The refugees develop a social network and improve their German by working actively on the development and implementation of projects in museums. They also contribute their knowledge and world view to society. conTAKT-museum thereby strengthens refugees’ sense of self in a targeted way. The museums get a new perspective on their exhibitions and activities, while furthering their transcultural capacity.

More cooperation and understanding

conTAKT-museum is a Migros Culture Percentage programme that has been jointly developed by museums, refugees, locals and integration specialists since 2018. SA4D has been participating in this development process on behalf of Migros Culture Percentage.
