Girls and Boys in Nairobi Learn How to Protect Themselves and Others from Sexual Violence.

In Kenya, sexual abuse of women and girls is widespread. Attacks mainly occur in disadvantaged areas where clear gender roles are the norm and where there is a lack of support structures for women and girls. Kibera, Nairobi’s biggest slum, is one of these areas. There, the emPower my life! project teaches children about their rights and shows them how they should react to sexual violence.

SA4D has developed a handbook for the emPower my life! trainers. It supports them as they use playful methods to provide children with the necessary knowledge about sexual abuse.
