Although sport is an effective tool for integration, migrants are underrepresented in Swiss sports clubs.
That is why the Swiss Federal Institute of Sport Magglingen (SFISM) and SA4D ran the ‘Meeting through movement’ programme from 2005–2007 in Bern, Biel/Bienne, Nidau and Neuhausen. So what was the idea? Teachers regularly explained local sports activities in schools, to make it easier for children from a migrant background to join sports clubs.
Our handbook is a compilation of the experiences of all the participating teachers. It is a tool for school teachers who want to build a bridge to sport as a hobby in German/French, sport or cross-curricular classes.
