Around 70,000 migrants from Turkey live in Switzerland. They speak diverse languages and have diverse cultures and religions.
The Federal Office for Migration wanted to find out more about this diversity of the Turkish diaspora in Switzerland. That’s why, in 2007, they tasked SA4D and Geneva’s centre for social research (CERES) with conducting a study on the topic.
A review
The publication resulting from this mandate is available in German. It includes sociodemographic and socioeconomic information on migrants from Turkey, information on cultural, religious, social and political forms of organisation within the diaspora, and information on Turkish people in Switzerland’s relationships in Turkey.
Making daily life easier
The study provided the basis for a differentiated integration policy for migrants from Turkey. The findings are also interesting for teachers, social workers and other people who work with Turkish migrants or provide services for them.
