Early childhood development lays the foundations for life. However, in Palestine only two in five children have the opportunity to attend preschool. SA4D wants to change this with the project “Active Kindergartens”, which provides teachers with the knowledge required to prepare children for the transfer to primary school.

In interactive workshops on early childhood development, SA4D provides the teachers with training on play-based lessons. The focus is on including children in learning activities as much as possible. Sport and play-based teaching methods spark the children’s curiosity and increase their willingness to learn, thereby increasing learning success. Targeted school visits complete the teachers’ training.

Everybody together in accordance with their needs

The kindergartens involved in the project take particularly disadvantaged children from marginalised urban and rural areas. There is a focus on equality between girls and boys and between children with and without disabilities. Disabled children get extra support from SA4D’s local partner organisation, the Palestinian Happy Child Centre (PHCC).
