SUPPORTING THEIR BUDDING CAREERS

Manasope completed his basic entrepreneurship education offered by SA4D together with the local partner organisation City Mission in Port Moresby, the capital city of Papua New Guinea. The project “Standing On My Own Feet” provides young people with the tools they need to succeed in their budding careers. The 26-year-old has ten siblings and hails from the provincial town of Popondetta. His father ran a small business, but neglected proper bookkeeping and lost money. He had to close up shop. As a result, Manasope decided to leave his home town. “I walked three days long nearly without a break until I reached Port Moresby.”

“NOW I UNDERSTAND HOW TO TACKLE IT ALL”

“When I heard of the entrepreneurship training, I thought immediately, that I’d like to reopen my father’s shop. I would enjoy selling crackers, rice and vegetables.” Manasope is a joyful young man and very popular. During his training, he developed a business plan and hopes now to receive start-up financing from “Standing On My Own Feet”. Nothing could then stop the reopening of the store in Popondetta. “As soon as I have secured financing, I head back. Thanks to the training I understand now how to tackle it all.”
