Dalit are on the lowest rung of the Nepalese caste system. They are systematically marginalised, which means they are particularly poor. Lots of Dalit children drop out of primary school, or don’t go to school at all. That means they struggle to find work as young adults.

That’s why SAD ran the ‘Move 4 New Horizons’ programme from 2008–2015 in southwestern Nepal, in the Dang district. The project was aimed at young people, and had three components: early childhood development, non-formal education and vocational training. This project evaluation summarises SAD’s experience in Nepal.
